A Surprising Admission about Opioid Abuse from a Harvard-Educated Doctor. . .
Millions of people in the U.S. are abusing opioids and many of them started their downward spiral with a prescription from a trusted doctor.
As a Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry, I am aware of the role that doctors play in opening a gateway for many patients to experience (and possibly abuse) opioids. In some cases, the desirable effects of the drugs outweigh the potential risks, but often these drugs are over-prescribed and the downsides are not given appropriate consideration and the risks are not properly discussed with patients.
The most logical solution is to do everything possible to ensure that people avoid pain in the first place. This will eliminate the need for pain management solutions. In dentistry, this happy outcome occurs when people get regular care and they are properly informed and encouraged to address their oral health challenges before they become problematic. There are also alternatives to opioids that are not given due consideration.
To do our part in solving the opioid epidemic in this country, Apex Dental has committed to a mission that we call “Help a Hundred to Health.” With the assistance of the people we serve and other concerned members of our community, we have pledged to reach 100 new people within the next 360 days in order to educate them about this crisis and either help them or enlist them to support our mission. We will do this through educational seminars and free clinically days for those in need.
It is a big goal that will become a reality, but we need your help. We are inviting you to attend our inaugural Help a Hundred to Health mission meeting on January 23, 2018. The meeting will be held at the Laporte First United Methodist Church located at 1225 Michigan Avenue in the “Friendship Hall” at 5pm. Bring your ideas and your enthusiasm because they will be much valued and appreciated.
To RSVP for this unique opportunity and be an advocate for those who need help the most, please email your reply to email@example.com or call (219)369-6882 and we will be sure to accommodate you. It’s time to make a difference in the world!
